People are questioning the system, the economy, the way we used to follow. Especially the young ones, whatever you name them. Companies knew they would have difficulties at keeping generation y and generation z aligned with their rule sets. They knew they need to change the way they communicate and that they have to offer more and more to keep that generation focussed on their work. However, that was not enough as we all saw already.
How can we motivate the Z Generation and the following ones?
First of all, they find the motivation -for any situation- within themselves. How? For sure, they like a fancy cake. Most of us do. The question is do they believe that this cake is better than a thousand like in social media or better than being able to sleep in a quiet place in the workplace? Well, if you provide sleeping spheres, will we hear the words “I can sleep at home, why should I come here to be stuck in that sphere?”.
You had spent a lot for those spheres and they said it’s useless. Alright, they can work from home and sleep at their comfy bed. Here it comes… “Why should I attend those meetings while we can use tracking tools?”. You had spent quite a few bucks for that online meeting platform and they said it’s not OK to stand in front of a camera for half an hour.
Right, we are sure it is not possible to please everyone and at some point we need that labour within reasonable costs. Unless you are a fan of slavery, right? Anyway, Human Resources are living the worst challenging times of all. From recruitment to loyalty, companies are struggling for a long time.
